BlogDumps News on Wednesday?

Yes, I am a day early but I am sure you all won’t mind… Me? Early? I know.. LOL
BlogDumps is ringing in the new year with a lot of new members dumping their blogs so I would like to say welcome to the community 🙂

Make sure to check out the newest member and Featured blog Chasing A Noodle I will do a review on it this coming Saturday on the Saturday Night Dump. Thanks for the support we appreciate it, all the support helps keep new features coming to the BlogDumps community.

Not much to report as far as BlogDumps goes all is running smoothly. I just updated BlogDumps Bloggers blogs to the latest version of WordPress and updated the plugins site wide. It went very smooth, no issues that I have seen, if you find something that looks or is acting strange let me know.

I added a few more backgrounds to the Twitter background maker if you have any suggestions for backgrounds let me know and I will add them. I hope you find this free service working well for you, let me know if you have trouble I will lend a hand.

We are still a bit behind in adding blogs to the directory but we will get to all of you as soon as we can, we check each and every blog manually to make sure it’s not a spam blog or porn blog. Yes we are a human edited directory but that keeps the site clean. If you would like to be added and put in the front of the line try our guaranteed inclusion on the blog submission page it’s a small one time fee.

Believe it or not ,I am still working on the BlogDumps Video area of the site I am trying to add some new up to date features but for now all is working well. I just want a couple of new features on it that I have been working on.

Walter Cronkite and the Lunar Landing On Sunday Music

I have been watching the news in the last week.. I know, go figure! I couldn’t help but notice the whole Lunar Landing 40th anniversary and the passing of Walter Cronkite. I think that it is kind of ironic that Mr. Cronkite Passed away so close to this 40th anniversary of the Moon Walk that he reported on.

Walter Cronkite was an amazing reporter and thanks to Sunday Morning this morning, I even know that in some countries anchor-men are called “Cronkiters” I think that’s awesome! He reported truthfully and faithfully and millions of people listened and believed and respected him.

There are still people that don’t believe that the moon walk was real. I believe. If we can have computers so tiny they fit in the palm of our hand, why couldn’t we launch a mission to the moon successfully?

I asked a friend if she thought it was a conspiracy and her reply was, “I wasn’t on the Moon so I can’t tell you that I really know.” While only the astronauts really know that we went to space or to the moon, I hate to think that President Kennedy’s words “We are going to the Moon” were false and unfulfilled.

So what are your thoughts? And are you going to be watching the new “Digitally Remastered” films from the first moon walk?

I have been poking around on the internet today, as usual, and I am checking out this new search engine called Bing!

We’ve heard about it on the news a lot, but I really don’t know much about it. It appears to be Microsoft’s answer to the Google search — do we need another Google?

So what is so different about this search engine? It looks to me, at first glance, to be just another search page. It does have a nice looking background (I think I had that as a desktop background, back in the 90’s…lol)

Ok, so I took the Bing tour. Of course they want you to bookmark their site to be your default search page or homepage… Then again you can do that right here on BlogDumps front page with the Google custom search on the top right of the page you get all the same results and do not have to leave BlogDumps.

I noticed that BlogDumps, when it was just a blog directory, was being used as a search site also. That’s when we decided to create the new front page of BlogDumps! It had the Google search in the middle of the page, but it looked like just another search page – there wasn’t much to it. So we decided if we were visiting Bloggers, what would I want out of a home page? We even used to have the “make this your home page” button on there, but then we thought that if Bloggers liked BlogDumps, they would bookmark it or make it their home page – no need for me to have another button there.

When looking at Bing, I didn’t see much more to it than the other six million search pages on the web but maybe I am just missing something?

I looked for tools for us webmasters and bloggers, they offer your standard sets of webmaster tools. OMG! Do I have to start worrying about getting indexed in another search engine?!? Now will I have a Bing/Google Page Rank? Do I need continuing education for this?

You can make sure your site is getting indexed and see where you stand. You can buy advertising (just like Google Adwords) but Bing does not offer a way to help make you money… no affiliate program. But you can put their search on your page and help make them money. I think I’ll stick with Google.

Seriously, Bing is just ANOTHER Search Engine! Why all the fuss on the news?

Daily Wild Life

It was just that! What a great day here on the Eastern Shore… It was very hard to stay inside, well at one point I was done I was out in the sun and Trina was right behind me! I guess we should be happy and feel blessed where we work, it’s right on the river and it just makes all life’s little changes seem so simple when you step outside on the deck or go down by the water near the river.

As you can see I am still working on my sidebar widget for the blog I want the bloggers avatar to show if they leave a quickie comment in the sidebar… I know way to much time on my hands…

Anyway I hope all of you are having a good week. I did find a small bug today but nobody even noticed it, it was an easy fix… The comments weren’t working on the Batavia theme for BlogDumps Bloggers, but they are now. (cough…Sandy, you didn’t catch that!?)

Have E Books For Sale?

I don’t write e books but I know a lot of you do…

Since a lot of you do have e books for sale, I am adding a thread in the forum for you to advirtise your book! This was a request I received a few weeks ago but I haven’t had a chance to get it done…( I know Slacker!… LOL) So it will go up today ~~I promise~~ ok I will do my best, I have so many new blogs to add to the directory, Whew! I know it’s a good thing though because that means our community is growing everyday and for that I am grateful!

It’s been a lot of work for almost the last three years!

I know! Can you believe it!? BlogDumps Birthday is on June 25! I am thinking of having a Birthday party and inviting everyone, what do you think? Virtual parties are so much fun we have done them in the past and had a great time! The best part is you can bring whatever you want and it doesn’t cost anything but a comment…LOL Time seems to go so fast doesn’t it?

BlogDumps was a coffee shop idea, I guess a lot of good ideas come from coffee shops. We were sitting around the coffee shop table (for those of you who just joined we had a coffee shop in downtown Seaford and we did web design in the office for other companies) And we talked about all the website linkdumps. Linkdumps are a place to get your website noticed and get a link back to your site, but most of them were for adult web sites…

Well, since I was a blogger I looked around for a place to dump my blog! What NO Blog Dump? So you see where I am going with this… So began the BlogDumps… ~~If you want to see newbie use the wayback machine…LOL~~

I never thought that the site would even become known to the internet users or even dreamed we would have done so much! I can still remember the day when Pablo-Pabla was our first to join the site. (PabloPabla is still blogging, once a blogger always a blogger, he now has his own url!) I met him in a forum when I dropped a link to what I had built and then, I met another person… what a great guy Joerg he was the moderator at the forum I dropped the link in. Instead of chastising me he just wrote politely @ Wolfbernz “don’t link drop” or something to that effect and he left my post up. I have to say thanks to Joerg for his constructive criticism and his help along the way and for checking up on me since that day and letting me know when I had made a mistake and something didn’t work right.

So please take advantage of all the features here, drop a link in the forum about your great blog or upload a video and embed it on you blog. We even created a spyware free IM without all the webpage and special cams you need to have and it’s free call and video chat around the world to friends and family at no charge, Ok you have to buy your own web cam or microphone head set if you are going to use it as a phone…LOL

So again I would like to invite all of you to participate in all the activities that are available here on BlogDumps, Built for bloggers by bloggers. Some of my friends ask me, “Why do you waste so much time on that site?” I guess it’s a blogging thing they just don’t understand.

Top Blogs Tuesday, It’s a MEME Now!

It sure looks like Spring is trying but these chilly nights on the Eastern Shore are still cold to the bone!

I have been thinking about a contest to see who can be number one on BlogDumps. I got it! We could have a Top Sites Tuesday MEME where everyone writes a post on Tuesday and ads the BlogDumps “Make Me Number One” button to it.

Then we can list the top sites each Tuesday on the post here on BlogDumps Blog. Starting Tuesday, everyone can check in and leave a comment saying their post is up.

I will publish the post on Monday night but it won’t have the top sites listed until Tuesday night! So grab a “make me number 1” button and join in the fun, who knows you could be number one.

The Dirty Little secret!

Sometimes I start to stress out and I think that I have it so rough I am working on one of the sites this week.

I took a break and had some left over enchiladas I cooked for dinner for the family the other night.
As I sat and watched the news there was this announcement about the USA’s Dirty Little Secret.

So I sat and watched this report before coming back to work. The report was about people in the United States living in tents, yes that’s what I said tents! Most of the people looked like they could be my neighbors or the guy down the street or me for as far as that goes…

This was quite disturbing to me and as I watched there was a guy in Sacramento that has a dry cleaning business and said anyone going for a job interview from this tent city they should stop by and he would clean and press their clothes for free, I wish I had caught the name of the cleaners, what a great guy! I can’t believe how many people that just last year were living and enjoying life and now it’s all gone and they live in a tent city outside of town somewhere!

All of a sudden my life became so much more clear to me… Stress, Gosh lets re-define the word here! I don’t have to live in a tent or wonder where my next meal is coming from. Don’t get me wrong I have to work and produce or I can’t feed my family but this is just horrible!!! I can’t even fathom what is going through these peoples heads and how they cope with all of it.

I think the worst of all is that our government, which means we, just throw the word (it used to be Billion) Trillion around like it’s nothing and all the corporate hot shot’s taking all the bonus money… How can they even turn on a TV with out feeling bad.

So anyway it’s back to work so I can make some kibbles and bits…

Is it Hot Yet?

Yes, it’s Hot Blogs Tuesday again, time goes so fast doesn’t it!

So I guess most everyone is following the news on our economy! I just hope things will get better for us all as spring comes into season.

As I watch on the news I feel blessed with what I have more and more each day. There are so many people that are having such a rough time especially those with kids… I know, I raised my fair share.

I have always been one to lend a hand when I could and always treated everyone as though they are better than me, no matter who they are. I know that sounds kind of corny, but I have made some interesting friends along the way and it has always helped me afford to live, you see I have always been self-employed and as a single parent, like a lot of you, it’s not an easy task.

I have started a “Bloggers Help America Fund” I think that if some of us, out of the fifteen million bloggers, banded together we could make a difference and have a positive impact on those that need help. I hope you will all join me on my journey. Let’s show the world how powerful little ‘ole bloggers can be!
