Walter Cronkite and the Lunar Landing On Sunday Music

I have been watching the news in the last week.. I know, go figure! I couldn’t help but notice the whole Lunar Landing 40th anniversary and the passing of Walter Cronkite. I think that it is kind of ironic that Mr. Cronkite Passed away so close to this 40th anniversary of the Moon Walk that he reported on.

Walter Cronkite

Walter Cronkite was an amazing reporter and thanks to Sunday Morning this morning, I even know that in some countries anchor-men are called “Cronkiters” I think that’s awesome! He reported truthfully and faithfully and millions of people listened and believed and respected him.

There are still people that don’t believe that the moon walk was real. I believe. If we can have computers so tiny they fit in the palm of our hand, why couldn’t we launch a mission to the moon successfully?

I asked a friend if she thought it was a conspiracy and her reply was, “I wasn’t on the Moon so I can’t tell you that I really know.” While only the astronauts really know that we went to space or to the moon, I hate to think that President Kennedy’s words “We are going to the Moon” were false and unfulfilled.

So what are your thoughts? And are you going to be watching the new “Digitally Remastered” films from the first moon walk?

Happy Sunday!

  1. Nice post, Trina…particularly re Walter Cronkite, an unforgettable and much respected newsman. Ummm…as to the first Lunar Landing…I’m one who doesn’t believe we did it. Too many aspects defying logic or even science. I do remember the landing, staying up late one night in ’69…and keeping my almost three year old awake to watch it but it wasn’t long after that…and certainly long before recent years…I had serious doubts and questions that, so far, haven’t been adequately addressed. I think my biggest question has been..if we did it why, then, did we never return? The most commong answer I’ve seen (because many, many people ask) is that, basically, there is nothing there so why go back? Well…there was nothing there to begin with and we were all led to believe it wortwhile and exciting plus, what about the junk we “left there”…wouldn’t anyone be curious enough to know how it fared, it’s degradation with time and atmospherics etc.? Then again…only my opinion, maybe more of a ‘feeling’. I think it was shot on a movie lot and, seems logical to me that if any country could do that, we could…the primary reason being to beat the Soviets while we were still in the midst of the cold war. Problem is…no way of proving we did or didn’t and for a future landing with today’s technology and computerization of so much, it would be so much easier to fake…if indeed it was a fake. It will be interesting to see just what remains (or not) with the digitally remastered footage!! At a guess, I’d say many of the things generating questions and doubts will have been changed or erased.

  2. PS, Trina…I forgot to add to never return “since ’72”!!! A three year time span and then, as technology made leaps and bounds, the golf cart, the golf ball, the flag are still up there, disintegrated, what??

  3. HAHA I forgot about the whole golf ball and cart bit… I still can’t believe that NASA thought that having a golf ball and a cart up there was so important… LOL or maybe they were a gift for the Aliens 😉

Either way, I have been talking to many people this weekend and almost everyone takes the same stance, that it was something staged and performed. Kinda sad that so many people feel that way now when they were so mesmerized watching it “Live” on TV.

  4. I hear you, Trina…it is sad and even more so if ever comes the day there is an expose and we find it really was the biggest hoax on the American public. I happened, by accident…to come across this very subject on TruTV the other night. Not a channel I watch but I was channel surfing late one night and actually did stop to catch the last fifteen minutes or so. To be fair, I’ve always lumped myself with the so-called Conspiracy Theorists on this even though I don’t consider myself one…lol…but more and more it seems less of a theory of consipiracy than we were taken for political reason. Since it has happened…perhaps before but certainly since I’ll hang on to the cynism but it is, indeed, so sad.
