We are now into our sixth year on the web… Time just seems to fly by 🙂

I want to thank the regulars that show up every Tuesday for Top Sites Tuesday. Thanks Cheryl, Bud and Trina you are awesome and for those who wish to read some great blogs just click on the names listed above and you will be on your way. I too participate but don’t think it’s right to toot your own horn 🙂

I am not sure what this new year will bring to BlogDumps. I would like to see more people participate each week on Top Sites Tuesday the check in post goes up on Mondays if you would like to join us.
As for the rest of the site a recap of this last year: we have updated our Instant Messenger for those who do not like to be tracked or have spyware on their computer give it a try. You can even transfer file to each other with no security issues it’s private between users. You can find the download here. Some would like me to integrate it with the other IM’s but that would bring on security and privacy issues so we are going to keep it in our own network. If you’re not sure what to do after you download there is a help button with instructions if you need them.
We have our very own Spider now, adding your site to BlogDumps is fast and easy, add one of our cool buttons and follow the instructions and in just a few minutes you are in the directory. OMG! You have no idea how happy I am that this has been accomplished we did it all manually for years!
If you would like to have a screen shot next to your listing and be on the revolving front page of featured sites follow me here to gain more readers and comments to your blog.

We have changed up the front page some so it will load faster and it also makes Google happy that we do not have a few thousand links on the front page. We used to show all the latest new members and Google discounted our site for doing so. Nice, I know, but they have the last say when it comes to search and SEO.

You will notice that we have added on the front page a link to those that want to sponsor a category.
This will put your site at the top of the first page of the category you choose. It’s always good to be in the spotlight and have people find you as there are so many sites on the web today.

One of the latest changes we have added to BlogDumps is we no longer regulate what you can put on the blog you create here on BlogDumps but we have added a small cost of just one dollar a month to have a blog here. I know to some it sounds crazy to do this but we have no choice it combats and keeps out the spammers and the real bloggers can enjoy no limits to the advertising of their own that they may want to have on their site, not to mention the help it gives Trina and I on the thousands it cost each year to keep the site running. Dedicated servers and top quality techs in a high tech data center isn’t cheep to say the least.

I don’t know if you have noticed we have a Blogger Connection Wall it works on your PC and on your smart phone or touch screen phone too. It’s a fast way to leave a message for others, no login, links allowed and it’s fast and easy. If you have a moment check it out.

We were going to make some changes to the video portion of the site where you can upload and share Videos Music and photos. but it works fine so why change it. The high Def player and screen options are awesome. Messaging between users, webcam uploads, private video mail and even flash games. This portion of BlogDumps is nice for all your media hosting with embed codes to add them to your site as well.

Have a great rest of the week, the best part of today is tomorrow is Friday!

I was doing my usual lurking around BlogDumps directory and the forum. I stopped by Vikki’s blog because I haven’t seen her in the forum or received an email from her in awhile.

Come to find out the last post on her blog was “GoodBye Momma” Oh that was hard to read.

Vikki was a long time supporter of BlogDumps and a blogging friend.
Vikki was one of the most talented artists, with paintings making the Sunday Morning show on CBS. She was so happy when it was on the CBS show, she had to stop by and let me know. As she wrote on her blog…

One of my Sun Art paintings , ABRUZZI, aired again on CBS television show ‘Sunday Morning’ today. It was used to end a Halloween Segment about ‘Invasive Species’- like vines that TAKE OVER EVERYTHING! (Very Spoooky) Abruzzi was created in 2009 and has had 11 National airings on Sunday Morning.

Vikki North, passed away at her home in Vista, California at the age of 61. Way to young in my opinion 🙁

Vikki’s talent, kindness and a dear blogging friend will be missed by us all.

PS This happened while I was traveling but it is never to late to say goodbye to a friend.

Superbowl Sunday

Post to Twitter Post to Digg Post to Facebook Post to Google Buzz Post to StumbleUpon

This year the Patriots face the Giants in the Superbowl. While I’m sure that the game will be awesome, I’m more interested in the halftime show with Madonna being the headliner. She announced that she will be singing 3 of her “classic hits” and one of her new songs. Which leaves me wondering which “classic hits” she will be performing?

I suppose we’ll all have to tune into the Superbowl to find out!

Have a Great Sunday Everyone and may the best team win!

Some Interesting Banking Info

Post to Twitter Post to Digg Post to Facebook Post to Google Buzz Post to StumbleUpon

In today’s economy it seems as though we have to make every penny count. More so we need to make an extra dollar if we can. Lately I have noticed that the banks have high interest checking accounts. Yes it is true you can get a checking account that will pay interest and a higher interest than some others you might find.

In trying to figure out why they would do this I found that they do this to offer an incentive to the customer by providing a higher interest rate on checking and savings accounts. This benefits current customers and entices new customers in the door and open accounts. This is a good idea on the banks part because the banking industry has become so competitive in today’s market.

So back to high interest bank accounts, free checking and how they can provide this to the new or existing customers of the bank.

I will try to make this easy to follow and simple to understand.

“Banks create money in the economy by providing loans. The reserve requirement is currently 3 percent to 10 percent of a bank’s total deposits.”

Put simply, say you deposit $100 into your bank and at this time the Federal Reserve has a ten percent requirement – the bank can now lend $90 to someone else. If the person who gets the loan put that money into a bank account in another bank, now that other bank can loan out $81. If you multiply those simple figures by thousands of people and lots of banks you can imagine the amount of money banking is introducing into the economy.

Instead of keeping the money as cash reserves for themselves, which banks can do legally, because of competition between banks now they use the money created from lending and offer incentives. Things like higher interest checking accounts and free checking accounts help to draw in more customers to a bank, bringing them money that they can lend from.

But as with every good thing, one may ask, what’s the catch? There’s always a catch to every good thing. There is normally no “catch” other than a few rules or stipulations, some of them may include the amount of withdrawals and how often you can make them, there may be a penalty for too many withdrawals or being under a certain balance. So make sure you are educated and ask as many questions as you possibly can in order to make the right choices on the right account for you.

I hope this little tidbit of information was helpful for you, I thought it was fun to look into and check out. In the state of our economy, I thought I would share this because it seem as though we are all in the same boat.

Wolfbernz
As with any money and investment ideas you are in control of your money, always make sure to read and find out the rules and stipulations that may come with any offers you may receive financially.

Sunday Music… Love Me When I’m Gone!

Post to Twitter Post to Digg Post to Facebook Post to Google Buzz Post to StumbleUpon

Well it is getting to be that time of year… There was snow tooooo close to home and the rain and sleet on Friday is enough to run this sun chaser outta here. We are not leaving the country as of yet… We are going to sail down the Atlantic Inter-coastal Waterway to Florida and then maybe off to the US Virgin Islands. After that we have a few options this winter for work so we will just have to wait and see.

The best part is we will have internet all the way so we will continue BlogDumps schedule for the Tuesday Meme. Since I have brought up the Meme, It would be really cool if more of the bloggers in the BlogDumps community and others that are not would participate. I will be sending out a news letter to everyone as a reminder.

I know I have been slacking on posting but everything has been running so smooth here – the new robot for adding the new bloggers to the directory has been such a great help and improvement, now I just have to figure out how to get the robot to do the featured listings… LOL

I would like to thank all of you that donated to help get the new database situation under control we are running full blast and haven’t had but a small glitch after the upgrade and clean-up which is just awesome so Thanks again for supporting BlogDumps. Trina and I have just been plugging away at building the community for years without taking on any big partners. I can’t say we never will but I do like that the site has been built by just us and some help from other bloggers.

I know it’s Sunday music but I can’t help but add a bit of what’s going on around here…So if all goes well we should be on the water by next weekend and headed south, YEA!

Here is this weeks music enjoy, it was uploaded by Trina to BlogDumps. If you would like to upload your cool music and get in the Sunday music post join today and upload your music here.

Upload and share Videos, Music, and Photos. Bring your friends you will like the Social network of BlogDumps “B Tubed” Social and media hosting site. Sign-up and join here

Normally I do a Sunday Music… Who knows maybe by the time I finish what’s on my mind I will have a song for the day.

As you can see by the title you must have realized that this is the Tenth Anniversary of the horrible attack on the world trade center.

I went to the Homeland security site to see what the level of threat and found that they offer a blog widget that was pretty neat.

I sit here today pondering why… what could make someone or a group of people hate another group of people so much that they would do such a thing.

This attack didn’t just effect Americans – there were people from around the world in those buildings even from there own country… But if you have no value on life I guess it just doesn’t matter does it.

Now don’t get me wrong on my last statement it did affect America and now we know we are vulnerable and we are “Mad as hell” and are “not going to take any more!”

There is all this speculation that it was a conspiracy or that Bush just needed a reason to go after the oil in Iraq, frankly I don’t really know what to believe about it other than the bastards blew up my country men and we just aren’t going to sit around and take that $#!+

Now here we are ten years later we finally got the mastermind of the attack and killed him. We have our soldiers – some of my family even – over there trying to put back together what was destroyed in our attempt to get revenge and in their ongoing battles – something I think is almost (I sad Almost) impossible.

The countries in this region have been at war for centuries, they are never going to agree on anything other than they do not like Americans or Israel. It is a sad day today for all of the world.

We live in a world of no peace and that my friend is awful. At home in the USA there are attacks in an IHOP by our own and abroad they are attacking us as we try to put these countries back together. I just don’t get it?! But I guess I wouldn’t I am not that kind of person.

Wouldn’t it be nice if for one week everyone decided to lay down their arms and just have some peace maybe then each person could realize what a stress relief it would be for the whole world. I have an Idea lets stop all the oppression in this world of ours too. If we all worked together imagine what we could do for everyone on our little planet called Earth.

There are so many without jobs, food, a place to live and call home, how about just a clean glass of water. Yet we spend Billions Fighting wars that seem to never end. We will go into debt for a missile but not a chance for the guy on the street with his family who lost it all due to our economy. WTF? Yeah, I said it!

So a song for Sunday?

Hi All,

First I want to let you all know that AngelBaby who has been with us here in the community for years took a little turn for the worse and is in the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers and if you would stop by her blog, Your Caring Angels, that would be nice, she asked me to take care of it while she was unable to post and I found a draft you will like that she had not published yet. You will find the post here

The next is I would like to welcome the latest featured blogger to the BlogDumps community.
Check out their blog… We have all been there for sure. With their services they make life a bit easier!

Now for the BlogDumps News…

This Saturday starting at 5pm Eastern Standard Time USA we will be performing Necessary Data base server maintenance. This will start with a database dump (in real word we are going to back up and save your stuff) this will lock the database server for about 15 to 30 minutes so don’t panic you may go to your blog and see nothing there. It’s ok it will come back online shortly.

After this backup we will start the optimization to the database to clean it up and get rid of the unnecessary tables (all the junk not needed to run the site.) This will take some time but we are going to do it one site at a time so it doesn’t affect everyone site wide at one time, also we will only be doing the data tables that need this maintenance. During this time across the BlogDumps site you may experience a little lag in loading but rest-assured it will only be for a little while and then we will be able to serve you better and faster.

BlogDumps has seemed to be growing at a very fast rate so this is a very important and necessary maintenance.

I would also like to thank all of the BlogDumps Bloggers who have built a blog here on BlogDumps that have hit the subscribe button to help with all the costs that it takes to run the site. We will continue to grow and registrations will stay open if more continue to subscribe. You will find the Subscribe button on your BlogDumps dashboard.

And to all of you that have generously donated to the BlogDumps cause to help us continue it is much appreciated 🙂

That’s it for the news this week as always I am around to help! You can find the help and contact button in the footer of the front page of BlogDumps.

The best thing about today….. Tomorrow is Friday 🙂

BlogDumps News – It’s BlogDumps Birthday And Adding New Features!

BlogDumps is a small business and the owners of BlogDumps have a couple of other small businesses.

In the situation of our economy we have thought long and hard about adding a business directory to the existing BlogDumps directory. The reason we have thought so much about whether or not to do this is because BlogDumps has always been just for bloggers. We do not want to change the site but just add a business directory portion to it. Looking at how popular the site has become, businesses would get indexed quickly and for a regular listing it would still be free just like for bloggers. The other thing is with the ability to create a free blog on BlogDumps, Businesses could do this and not have to hire a webmaster to build them a web page – they can just create a free blog here for their business.

Everyone has been asking “Where are you going to get the money to afford all this?” I believe that if I am helping the small business man or woman this would be a great contribution. I am willing to gamble that this will work and by helping out small businesses the money will follow.

This will not be an easy task… We will need to have listings for all the different types of businesses. Then create a site search for people looking for a business in their area “IE Plumber in Tucson Arizona”.

We have begun this project and it will be a work in progress but hope to have it finished by the end of Summer 2011. So if you have a small business please check back and add yours to the new business directory!

In other site news BlogDumps is Five Years old this week!

Yes, we have been on the web promoting bloggers for five years now and have had a great time doing it. We have made a ton of friends along the way and we appreciate all of you. Thanks for all your support for the last five years, we will be here for many more to come to help promote all of you and your awesome blogs 🙂
There are thousands of blogs on BlogDumps and it is all of you that make BlogDumps the community it is!

The best part about today is tomorrow is Friday!
