Why Does it Seem as Though the Week Goes by so Slow?

Ok, if you use Twitter you know I went to lunch.. Burger King … Woo Hoo! 😀

I have been working on the site and trying some cool changes on my test site to see if I like it. I am trying to combine all the data bases and automate submissions and give you all the ability to change your listings and urls, categories etc… Wow is this involved. Any Crazy wild programmers are welcome to email me and we’ll talk… Yes, I just yelled HELP! 😀 I have so many things I want to do to bring BlogDumps to a super level of quality I can’t stand it.

While I am on this subject to all of you that have jumped in and decided to subscribe to the blog hosting (which is optional) I extend a great thanks ’cause this next step is gonna hurt the ole check book… LOL But I enjoy every minute so it’s all worth it to me.

AY won this weeks Top Sites Tuesday and she has been featured so I have a surprise for her! AY I will be emailing you! All of you that joined in this week, thanks! You made it a lot of fun! I hope someday we have a hundred or more and I will create a “Dumped” blogroll so we can all display it and get some more linky love going.

Not much to report on BlogDumps other then trying to keep up with Internet Explorer and Firefox updates on the video site. Every time they update, so do we, so it all works and looks right in each browser. So far I have it all done but the article part… Yes you can write an article all about your blog on BlogDumps Video and link it to your blog. It’s great for SEO purposes.

So that’s it for now all is well on the home front.

BlogDumps Bloggers Upgrade is a Success

WHEW!

That was tedious! I was so scared about this upgrade! But Everything went well and if you followed me on Twitter while I was upgrading, you know even my computer survived!

I know there was a short blip in Functionality today, but hopefully no one saw it! Truth is it only lasted for about one minute LOL!

Updates and Changes Include (but are not limited to):

  • While the overall look of your dashboards has changed, it’s really a simple and efficient change. All the tabs that were across the top of your dashboard are now in the left side bar!
  • We’ve removed the help and ticketing system. Few bloggers used it and the help videos were really out of date, so we decided that it was best to avoid confusion and remove the whole sha-bang. If you need help all you have to do is ask! You can email us or leave comments on this blog, Trina’s Blog, or Wolfbernz’s Blog — remember we are here to help!
  • We’ve installed a Text Link Ads Plugin to help monetize your blogs. Read this article to learn how to use this Widget.
  • The Social Networking Plugin has been updated. You can now choose from tons of social networking sites for bookmarking link at the foot of your posts and pages. It’s easier than ever to Tweet your posts! Simply log into Twitter, then go to your blog and click the Twitter logo at the foot of your posts.
  • I installed a comments plugin so comments can subscribe to follow-up comments. You have to activate it in your comments
  • Another bookmarking plugin, WP-Greet Box – This plugin lets you show a different greeting message to your new visitors depending on their referrer url. For example, when a Digg user clicks through from Digg, they will see a message reminding them to digg your post if they like it. Another example, when a visitor clicks through from Twitter, they will see a message suggesting them to twit the post and follow you on Twitter. You can also set a default greeting message for new visitors (not matching any referrer URLs) suggesting them to subscribe to your RSS feed. This too is a plug-in you must activate
  • STATS!!! We’ve installed a stats program for tracking the status of your blog! In the left sidebar of your dashboard, under “Dashboard” check out the “Blog Statistics” link. I’m looking for feedback on this one, so make sure you let me know if you like it!!

Change is a Comming

What a great week but TGIF!!! 😀

Congrats goes out to ieatsnowmanpoop for being the Top Site on this weeks Top Sites Tuesday… don’t you just love her name???

It sure has been a good week, I was going to post yesterday but I got caught up in working on upgrades for BlogDumps. It’s ok! I haven’t done anything live yet…lol 😉 I have been looking for a kick ass stats program and I haven’t found one that I really want to use yet that works well with the version of WordPress we are using on BlogDumps Bloggers.

So, my solution is – I am going to upgrade BlogDumps Bloggers to the latest version. I’m testing all the functions and features and making sure that the upgrade will not harm anyone’s blog. Now your new back office is going to change, but we are going to give everyone fair warning before the upgrade goes live. This process is going to take some time, so the upgrade will probably be next week. I will post an admin message on your dashboard. Change is Good! No Worries!

I have been working on the discussion forum also and will make some cool changes there. I am hoping the live chat option will work… that would be fun for everyone to be able to live chat with each other along with posting in the discussions. If you haven’t announced your blog to the community stop by and join us!

It’s Thursday Already!

This week has flown by! I guess it’s because it’s a holiday week…

It has been a good week though, there are a lot of new blogs being built on BlogDumps Bloggers so I would like to say Welcome and if any of you need any help just let us know, we are always here to help.

If you have created a BlogDumps profile and downloaded the BlogDumps Instant Messenger and you can find me with my screen name – Wolfbernz – or just use the contact button on BlogDumps.net front page and send me an email. There is also a support ticket system on your BlogDumps Blogger Dashboard when you login to your blog.

Make sure when you finish building your new blog to add it to the BlogDumps Blog Directory for maximum exposure.

If you are new to blogging and you don’t have a BlogDumps blog you are welcome here too! Come add your blog to the blog directory and join in some of the fun around here like Top Sites Tuesday! Saturday At the Dump!

As is sit down with my cup of coffee in hand and gaze out the window thinking of what to write, I see it looks cold and windy outside! I am so glad my friend bought me a really nice down jacket for Christmas! It has been a very cold this week on the Eastern Shore.

There is so much to tell about what’s going on around here!

My son has bought his own house and he and his wife have moved in they will be having their baby soon. It’s going to be a baby boy! Woo-hoo! Oh stop it, I am not that old!!! Ok, Don’t you even use the “G” word…LOL I am proud of them though they are on their way to their new life. They are on their own and they are making out well, in this economy I had my concerns.

As you could see from the last post, I know it was last Tuesday but we have been working so hard on the site improvements I haven’t had a moment to blog away.

I was reading in some of the emails I get from various web news about social media and where it is headed in 2009. One of the articles I was reading had some of the do’s and don’ts, so I decided with a mutual vote around here to follow some of their advice and start this year off with a new look for BlogDumps as a whole.

The improvements started this week. We made some awesome improvements to BlogDumps Bloggers, allowing bloggers to add their adsence and javascript codes to their posts, and in the process we had to re-build a couple of blog templates to be able to be seen in FireFox… I am so glad Nancy Likes her new blog layout!

The biggest news of the week is the new look of BlogDumps Video I hope you all take a moment and go look at the new look and layout. Please take a few minutes and join the social media part of BlogDumps, you will not be disappointed with all the cool new features. The webcam upload allows for you to even do a webcam upload and embed your video blog post on your blog!

The next biggest news is the *all new* BlogDumps Instant Messenger that now has all the features the big boys have! Yes, I want our instant messenger to be just as good or better. Now you can send not only text, make audio calls and do video chat with your friends you can also transfer files! I hope you all enjoy the new look throughout BlogDumps as we grow along side all of you in the blogging world. Trina says it sounds corny, but I have to say it – with out all of you, BlogDumps would be just another empty site hoping for some visitors – so with that said thanks everyone for becoming a part of the BlogDumps community!

New Features on BlogDumps Bloggers

I spent the better part of this weekend reviewing and installing new features on BlogDumps Bloggers.
These improvements will be great and I hope all of you enjoy them and it helps you with your blog.

– Admin Messaging – I can leave a message on everyones dashboard keeping you up to date on all the changes that take place. I was hoping I had this done before the last upgrade but we did the upgrade without issues, so oh well.

–Support System – A coulpe of testers would be great… The support link is on the top right of your blog dashboard on the second line. Here you can submit a ticket for blog tech support or report a blog that should be removed…Spam blogs, porn etc… I will be adding the FAQ as soon as I can for all the newbies.

One of the best parts is that we now have a video libraray. I thought this was so important.

Changing your design/theme (Approximate runtime: 4:30)
Changing your settings (Approximate runtime: 4:58)
Managing your blog (Approximate runtime: 4:21)

–Add Media Buttons – You now can add Photo files and images. Add video, audio, and use embed codes using the “Add Media” buttons. These are located at the top right hand side of where you write your posts.

–Page link Display – When writing a new Page or Editing a New Page, you now have the option to not display it in the page links or, depending on your theme, page tabs without making it private – simply put a check in the box next to “Include this page in user menus” in the right column.

–Signup Password – when signing up, new bloggers have the ability to choose their password instead of having one sent to them.

–New themes – we have uploaded a ton of new themes that will be available to BlogDumps Bloggers soon. We are still processing and editing the themes – as we complete this process we will activate them so users have more themes to chooses from.

Saturday at the Dump!

Another great week around here at BlogDumps I am going to have to get busy and add all the new Bloggers. There has been an average of 4 to 5 new blogs added each day to the blog directory… have decided this has become a viral thing now. A blogger sees the link and then joins. I was astounded when the server statistics said that BlogDumps buttons files are called 95,000 times an hour I thought, “What the? No that has to be a mistake.” — but it’s correct. So I guess it’s just a matter of time and we’ll have a real community going here…YEA! I have always wanted BlogDumps to be a cool place for bloggers to hangout.

I have created a BlogDumps Store this week. One of my blogger friends needed some help so I thought, “What the heck! I’ll make one for BlogDumps and then I can zip through and lend a hand.” Stop by the BlogDumps store – you can get all kinds of cool items, I used the new BlogDumps logo on The T-shirts Etc… So if you want to help with the cost of running BlogDumps, visit our new Store.

I am going to be handing out awards to some of the most outstanding BlogDumps community members.
I am not the best at making awards but this is it.
