Featured Blog – The Artist Challenge

On first look one can not grasp the depth of beauty and passion stirred by The Artist Challenge. This site is an inspiration to those who participate in the monthly challenges and those who view the results from challenges past.

On their “What the Heck is this Site?” page I found the following:

What is The Artist Challenge?
The Artist Challenge is ‘dare’ between artists. Example: “How would a foolish soul like you portray ‘Hope’ in a singular image or artwork?”

How does it work and what are the requirements?
The theme for the challenge will be clearly defined at the first of every month with links to research the subject. It’s origins may come from the artists, patrons or some other unlikely spirit.

The challenge can be done in any style or medium the artist chooses. (Painters, Sculptures and craftsmen are all welcome.) Each member is given 30 days to render their concept and post their masterpiece on The Artist Challenge site by the specified drop dead date.

Of course, there is more to the page, but you have to go to The Artist Challenge to read it – I’m not giving away all the details!

The artwork submitted on each challenge is amazing! Their last challenge, Art Challenge#20- Shifting Shadows was actually posted last night and the artwork- all we can say is Wow! 11 artists participated and each work of art was so different – every interpretation was unique! I really love how every piece of artwork submitted has artist details and details about that particular piece of art when you click on it.

If you are an art lover, or collector – heck, if you like to look at awesome things, you gotta check out The Artist Challenge! If you are an Artist of any kind, I encourage you to participate as one artist wrote

“These challenges are changing my work. Have commented; some where, about this. No longer to I approach a piece with a concept only. Tend to ponder it for a while, what is it saying not only to my eyes, but my heart and mind and if it turns out well it represents a part of my soul. Look at the rendition we each come up with and the world becomes more a touching compassionate loving “complete” world. Truly am very fortunate to be a part of this gallery of Artists.”

The Artist Challenge
is a great asset to our community and I hope you all enjoy the site as much as I do.

Saturday Night Dump – Pete’s Quiz

The winner of this weeks Top Sites Tuesday was Pete from Pete’s ‘Today is the Day” Quiz. Pete’s Blog has been featured on BlogDumps before, so we are going to be sending him a BlogDumps T-shirt!

But, just because he’s been featured doesn’t mean we aren’t going to tell you how awesome his blog is! Pete writes:

“For all fans of quizzes, this blog is here for you to get your daily ‘fix’ of trivia questions. Each day there will be questions about happenings that occurred on that particular day in history. Births, marriages, deaths, earth-shattering events, useless trivia…all things that happened TODAY in history.”

He pairs his trivia questions with thoughts and news – news is normally from the BBC, after all Pete is in the UK. Every day he posts 3 trivia questions and the answers to yesterday’s questions. Sometimes I actually get the answers without Googling them 😉 And when I do have to Google the answers, I find it entertaining – I actually learn stuff – Imagine that LOL

In other news, check out the new shirts Wolfbernz created yesterday — The BlogDumps Store I think he did an awesome job with the new look!

BlueMont Vineyard

Normally I don’t post on Wednesday, but I just had to slip this one in!

I know last Sunday we had mentioned that we were in Virginia for the turning of the leaves – it was great by the way 🙂 And Irene had to climb a mountain I’ll save that for another blog post.. LOL

It was our third trip to this area. This last time was not really to do the winery thing but Sunday when we decided to come home, we thought about this great place we had stopped at on the first trip, BlueMont Winery. It’s a family owned and run operation, from what I am to understand, and they are good at what they do! Out of all the wineries we visited, I’d say this one was the best – not only the wine but the layout of the building, the remodeling and bringing it up to speed to make it what it is today. Bluemont is a wonderful place to sit out on the deck at a table and take in the gorgeous views while having a glass (or two) of some of their awesome wine 🙂

Ok. Stop it AngelBaby. I am not a wino…LOL I just like the good stuff… hehehe 🙂 and that is what you will find at Bluemont Winery. And no, Maat, that’s not what happened in the recliner! LOL

I took a couple of photos so you could get an idea of what I am saying about the views, totally awesome!

If you are in the area you should definitely stop in – you will be glad you did. The owner and staff were great the young lady that waited on us was terrific! We even laughed how we had all done the “Sideways” trip in California *No More Merlot* – You have to see the movie. Then she gave us directions to a mountain trail just up the road that we could climb so Irene would be happy. Irene asked me, “What would be the best photo, Dad?” when we got to the top… I said, “A helicopter picking me up and delivering me to the car!” 🙂

I also liked the way they named the bottles of wine. Each winery has some type of naming thing but being an animal lover I thought theirs was cool… Like the “Goat” is Viognier, a dry white wine aged in the barrel. I had this with some good ‘ole Maryland Blue Crab salad made with fresh spinach when I got home, it was wonderful! I didn’t find one wine on their shelf I did not like! In fact, I just bought one of each! Why try to decide when they are all good?!?!

Here are some of the photos I took of this gem I found in Virginia. If you plan to get married you just might want to take a look at the layout it’s awesome 🙂

Have a great day! I’ll see you at the BlogDumps Thursday news. Oh and Tweet this post please, I think they deserve the attention!

All the best,

Saturday Night Dump – The Inferno

What a better way to get ready for the Halloween Season than to visit and awesome blog with scary undertones? With a Welcome Page:

Welcome all, to the the maiden voyage of… The Inferno! BEWARE……….. BEWARE …. BEWARE……..(cue evil laughter echoing from deep within the ships bowels) Brar har, har, har… har. we are the scallywags from our sister ships, The Artist Challenge, and Dante’s Pub.

The Inferno

I love their overall theme and I was going to try to describe what thier site was all about, but I couldn’t write it better:

We are a community of artist and writers from around the world, who gather to share in the creative influence. The Challenge started as a dare between two amazing artists. It has since grown to encompass what is now The Artist Challenge. Our last gallery had 20 artists who participated in the theme. One of those was not an artist at all, but a writer. For this community feels that writers are artists themselves, simply working in a different medium.

They host a Writer’s Challenge, posting a theme and a submission deadline for creative writing works of art. The challenge Title, Nightmare’s Dance, “this theme be in the spirit of Hitchcock, one of the masters of scream and scare. ” And the entry deadline is Saturday, October 3, 2009. I can’t wait to read this challenge! Their last challenge, “Curiosity Killed The Cat” was awesome! Themed with Edgar Allan Poe’s style, each entry was an entertaining read!

There are a lot of awesome reads on The Inferno, you totally gotta’ check it out!

Pete’s ‘Today in History’ Quiz

Pete’s “Today in History” Quiz blog was the top blog this week on Top Sites Tuesday!

Pete has a great blog with a ton of useful information. He delivers it in the form of a quiz. I really like Pete’s blog it is so informative and a fun place to visit. Pete has been joining in the Top Site Tuesday Meme and we love having him here in the community.

Pete's 'Today in History' Quiz

Everyday Pete put’s up a quiz consisting of three questions and the answers are posted on the next day’s blog. I find every question challenging, however I must admit I cheat from time to time by Googling the answers!

In his Biography, Pete writes:

“I have been presenting weekly Pub Quizzes for the last 8 years here in Birmingham and I thought it was about time to test out some of my questions on a wider audience.
My basic philosophy for a quiz is: – Don’t make it too hard (people don’t like to go home thinking that they know nothing!)
If people don’t know an answer, when they do hear it they say, “****, I should have known that!!” (There’s nothing worse at a quiz than being none the wiser when you’ve heard the answer!)
Aim the questions at your target audience’s interests.
I have published the book “The Easy Quiz Master” (available via Amazon and Lulu.com). This book is designed to give aspiring quiz masters enough questions for a whole year of quizzing based on presenting a quiz per week.
Aside from quizzing I enjoy playing golf (not very well – handicap 19), canal holidays, visiting pubs, science fiction and taking occasional photos.”

So let’s all make the journey to Birmingham in the United Kingdom and visit Pete! Good luck with Today’s Quiz!

Time for a Babble Break

Ay, was last weeks Top Blog Site on Tuesday! Her blogs, Time for a Babble Break and Kitchen Trails are awesome new additions to the BlogDumps Community.

Time for a Babble Break

In her Blog, Time For a Babble Break, Ay writes about everything from daily life to food reviews and family outings. Ay States:

Was once into public relations but found that relating to kids gives more satisfaction and makes so much more sense. So it was goodbye to the corporate world some years back. Currently a stay home mum to three boisterous, active and lovable kids who keep me insanely occupied but very fulfilled. Welcome to my Wonderland and join me for a babble-licious Babble Break.

And the site is just that, a stay at home mums wonderland! I love how everything is light and friendly. The site is whimsical with pictures of the family line the sidebar.

Kitchen Trails

In Kitchen Trails, Ay writes about “Sharing my thrills and spills in the kitchen and all that yum factor….”. On BlogDumps Birthday she brought Bubur Cha-Cha which sounds really interesting – and the recipe was really surprising! In the picture Bubur Cha Cha looks like a fruit soup, but it is actually made with yams, sweet potatoes, and Black beans! She posts pictures of different foods that I find totally interesting – I think I’m just curious what some of them are and what they taste like because I’ve never had it!

I think but of these blogs deserved recognition! Welcome to BlogDumps!

*Wolfbernz rolls out Red Carpet – successfully avoiding tripping over his own feet this time – and invites Ay to the stage for a speech*

I Eat Snow Man Poop!

I have followed this blog for quite some time now… About three years or so.

In fact she has been blogging before BlogDumps was ever even thought of. I was mostly a lurker in the beginning, reading without leaving a comment, I guess it was before I really learning blogging etiquette.

The Poop’s blog is great! I guess the first thing that caught my eye was the title:

I Eat Snowman Poop Banner

From then on Trina and I have been hooked. One of the best posts, gosh July 12, 2006 I am going back-a-ways now : Why You Shouldn’t Let Your Kids Go Find Their Own Bandaids I found this to be so funny I died laughing and had to send all my friends to look at the picture! OMG The post is so true of the little guys and for all of you that have little ones (especially little boys) you know what I am talking about… lol

I think what I like the most about “I Eat Snowman Poop” is just following her daily life as she blogs. The Poop is a true blogger not someone trying to make it rich – you won’t find any ebooks ( although she should write one!) but you will find a cool blog with a great layout and the blog title… I still chuckle each time I say it… lol

The poop was one of the first to join the BlogDumps community – she used my favorite button “I took a Dump on BlogDumps” For some reason it just fit perfectly… lol

The Poop is a wonderful person and has supported us for years and we appreciate her very much for that. She truly deserved this feature.. I can’t believe we haven’t featured her before!?!

Happy Blogging, Poop!
Wolfbernz

Well, Wolfbernz is right I thoroughly enjoy the I Eat Snowman Poop Blog – I am a regular reader, but I am guilty of being a lurker. Sometimes I laugh so much that I simply forget to comment!

Her last post – Goings On – she made the following statement:

“I just realized I am constantly surround by poo and not just the bullshit I have to put it out of people all the time but stinky poo. There’s baby poo, 3 cats worth of poo. and a stepson and a husband. why do men poo and fart so much. I’m tired of poo.”

Honey, I totally feel for ya’! I think that question for women is similar to the question “What do Women want?” for men!

Anyway, I follow “The Poop” on Twitter! Wanna talk about funny! When she tweeted “i wish it wasn’t so hot so that all the old fat men would put their shirts back on” I ’bout died Laughing! She’s “The Poop”! LMAO

Well, Happy Saturday!
Your Bloggy Beech,
–Trina

Saturday Morning on the East Coast

It’s so beautiful outside that I can’t wait to do a little gardening! I think that I might even go for a nice quiet boat ride this afternoon – I use a small trolling motor on the John boat, it’s so quiet that you can sneak up on turtles and heron and not even bother them.

I want to tell you about a new member of the BlogDumps Community, Margaret’s BookShelf. Margaret just started this blog and being the book lover that I am I can’t wait to read her reviews on the books shes reading! In her post, About my Blog, she describes the design and layout of her blog and future plans for her blog.

My Reviews

I plan to list the following for each of my book reviews:

* Title/Author/Series Info
* Star Rating
* Main Characters and Point of View
* Age Appropriateness and Genre
* Summary of Book
* A Quote
* My Thoughts/Opinions
* The Bottom-line

I love the “The Bottom Line” part.
