You may have noticed some changes going on around here…

I have been having so much fun re-designing BlogDumps and adding cool new features like the New soon to be launched BlogDumps toolbar. The new tool bar has all the rock’n cool features you could want including Email, a pop-up blocker, BlogDumps Google search, There isn’t any spyware or virus stuff – just some really simple, convenient tools that are nice to have on your computer. Best of all you can keep in touch at the BlogDumps community with our RSS feed right on the toolbar.

I’m not finished yet… hehehe! There is more to come so stay tuned I am just getting started! It’s that time again… I know it has been a little while since I posted the top blogs sites but I am back on track so make sure to have your BlogDumps Buttons where your readers can find them and make you number one on the front page. Thank you all for being a part of the BlogDumps community!

How do you like the new look? I think it looks clean and neat. I have a few more things to do but in the end I think it will be the new look for BlogDumps.

The forum has been updated so your avatar shows up on the topics when you post. Make sure to fill out your profile and add your blog links so everyone can visit your blog. If you haven’t joined, make sure to sign-up and promote your blog, Yes I do allow links in your topics ’cause BlogDumps is all about Linky Love. (I think we all know what a spam post is so we’ll leave it at that.)

If you need any support for you blog hosted by BlogDumps feel free to add your questions to the forum, I have added an area just for this. It will help to benefit all BlogDumps Blogger in the case that they are having similar issues, we will be able to compare notes on these issues and how they were fixed.

I will be working on a new project for BlogDumps that will be very cool to have on the site, yes you guessed it….. No you didn’t, LOL. When people sign-up and submit their blog I want to display their feed in their blog listing. BlogDumps is not on a script that I bought out of a box or package, this is our own stuff so I have to figure out how to get this done. Any of you that are into programming and have any ideas I’m listening!

I know I have mentioned this before but there are some cool new buttons for all of you affiliates in the community. If you have become an affiliate already and have a BlogDumps button it’s ok to replace the old ones with a new affiliate button. Text Link Ads?

What a great day!

I got an email from Text Link Ads It was a notice that three of my inline text links were not found by their spider. So off I went to invesegate and they were right the links were not on the page. So I followed the instruction in the email to make sure I have everything correct (I just knew it was from the disaster we had two weeks ago) But everthing was in place and still the spider had not found the keywords in the post. There was a phone number on the email so I thought I’d just call them followed by “OMG this is going to be painful!” But to my suprise it was pleasant and I am making more residual income from my blog each month just because of the phone call.

Let me back up a bit I called the phone number for Text Link Ads and a nice guy answered the phone in two rings! A live person! He had a look at my account and said the computer had made a mistake and sold ads on my blog and he could either remove the error or I could just add the two words to the blog post anywhere and that they would be found by the spider so I would have the money for the links… Yea!

I know some of you are like, “Oh he’s just trying to make a referral… you bet! These guys are for real – they pay me every month and all I do is write and tell people that this is a legit company with super support.

I think the worst thing a blogger can do is think about the money in the beginning when they’re creating their blog – just be passionate about what you like to write about -don’t get discouraged, we all want to make something from our blogs while sharing our lives and making friends along the way. I made eight dollars the first month with TLA. I thought “Wow! It actually made a buck!” Well I can tell you I now make more then ten times that now and it comes in like clock work every month.

Welcome to BlogDumps Saturday Night Post. I was trying to figure out who to dump this week and then I thought Why not Dump all the BlogDumps Affiliates. They are all great blogs and I am glad to have them as affiliates.

Friday Fifteen

TGIF! It has been another long week here, How about yours?

Every summer the Sharptown Firemans Carnival opens in Sharpstown Maryland so we went last night. The carnival is stationary, the firemen actually have their own rides (a favorite here is te tractor engine powered ferris wheel) and a few years back a huge building was built so the rides like the tilt-a-whirl and kiddie coasters would not be affected by the weather. They open up probibally 10 food stands where you can get a fried oyster fritter sandwich, clam strips, crab cakes, funnel cakes, burgers, hot dog, french fries, and even frozen mountian dew LOL! They have games like bingo, abseball throwing to knock down the milk bottles, the quarter roulette wheel and the dime toss(I told you it’s a small town carnival right?). An lots of people have small booths where you can buy raffle tickets to win something exciting like a Wii. All the proceeds go to the firemen – so it’s great, you get to play, eat and support your local firemen.

We had fun last night even though it tried to rain and thunderstorm. Thanks to the thunderstorm the ferris wheel was turned off so we just got dinner there. We split a seafood platter – I love clam strips – it was literally served on a frisbee instead of a plate LOL but it was very good.

So anyway it has been a real busy week I am looking forward to this weekend and getting some rest… Yea right- no rest for the weary here!

Top Blogs Tuesday

I don’t know if you all noticed but I changed the front page up a bit. I think it looks cleaner, What do you think?

I added a link to the Olympics at NBC ’cause everyone is so into it.
I had fun watching it last night… We didn’t win the gold in gymnastics, UGH, but bronze is better than nothing and Team USA did try hard.

I watched the parallel bars portion and China was competing – It looks as though the arms slamming into the polls after flipping in the air hurts, don’t you think?

Well I am at work got to go, yada yada… will it ever end? Gosh, where is that sack of money falling from the sky? LOL

Stats What Stats?

I use a few different stats programs, which ones do you use?

I have found that they all say something different.

On my blog I use countersize – the stats are easy to read and very handy. I use Google Analytics for the whole website to track which pages are getting what hits and where thay are coming from. Both programs display completely different stats for the same pages – but they are close (if you think that 100 hits different is close).

Now, to top it off, we put Project Wonderful ads on our most popular pages. Project wonderful ads come with their own stats – and thier stats… you guessed it! Completely different than both counterize and Gooloe Analytics!

As a matter of fact I have three Project Wonderful ads running on the same page and each ad shows a different set of stats!

Mybloglog also has stats and they are different too! But I get a false sence of visitors there because someone can visit me on MyBlogLog and it looks as though they have been to my blog but in reality the just visited me on my account in Myblolog.

So what do I beleive? Alexa shows that BlogDumps is in the top 100,000 sites often and has a current rank of 134,000. How is it possible if Project Wonderful shows I have only 49 unique visitors somtime days and only 90 page views. I don’t believe BlogDumps could go as low as 50,000 on Alexa with these stats.

Since I have my own servers for BlogDumps, my server stats show another more detailed set of stats all together! My server techs tell me they are very accurate. However, if any of you are on your own server then you will appreciate how difficult these more detailed stats can be to understand.

So the big question of the day is what to believe? What stats do you use and what is your success with the one you use?
